Charles Darwin Primary and Nursery has been named the highest-rated primary school in Norwich according to the latest rankings from the School Guide. The announcement, released on 24 April 2026, highlights the school’s overall performance as it continues to serve children aged 2-11 at its Rose Lane site.

The ranking system differs from traditional league tables by using a variety of metrics to calculate an overall score for each school. This approach considers official exam results at Key Stage 2, pupil attendance figures, findings from official Ofsted inspections, and feedback provided by families. At Charles Darwin Primary and Nursery, 81% of pupils are meeting the expected standards in reading, writing, and mathematics, a figure that sits well above the national average of 62%.

The school, which is operated by the Inspiration Trust, has maintained a high standing with inspectors. It was judged to be Outstanding in all areas during its initial inspection in 2019, and a second inspection in 2025 confirmed that the school continues to uphold those high standards. Current Principal Ms Maxine Sebire, who stepped into the role in April 2024, oversees the school’s daily operations and its community of approximately 440 pupils.

As families across the city weigh their options during the current admissions cycle, the school joins a list of ten top-rated institutions in the area. This list includes Avenue Junior School, Magdalen Gates Primary School, Bignold Primary School and Nursery, Lakenham Primary School, George White Junior School, Angel Road Junior School, The Free School Norwich, Lionwood Junior School, and St. Clements Hill Primary Academy.
