The Sue Lambert Trust is inviting members of the public to take part in a charity abseil at The Forum in Norwich on 16 May 2026. Participants will scale down the iconic three-storey building to raise vital funds for the charity, which provides free support to survivors of sexual violence and abuse in Norfolk.
The event comes at a difficult time for the organisation, which is currently facing a 66% reduction in funding from the Norfolk Police and Crime Commissioner. The funding is set to drop from £420,000 to £144,000 for the two-year period beginning in February 2026. As of March 2026, the charity had more than 450 people on its waiting list and receives about 85 new requests for help every month.
Clive Evans, the Chief Executive of the Sue Lambert Trust, has warned that the reduced funding will severely affect the charity’s ability to plan for the future and maintain its capacity to support victims. The charity, which provided services to approximately 636 people in 2024, is the only local organisation offering this type of support free of charge.
People interested in taking part in the abseil can register through TryBooking. There is a £10 registration fee and a minimum fundraising target of £120. The event is open to anyone aged 11 and over, though participants under the age of 18 must provide parental or guardian consent. Further information on the challenge can be found on The Forum website.
