A grant fund offering up to £7,500 is now open to help Norwich youth groups get children and young people active, with applications accepted until noon on 13 July 2026.

Backed by the Norfolk Community Foundation, the Norfolk Superhero Fund aims to reach those up to age 18—or 25 for those with special educational needs and disabilities—who miss out on sport, outdoor activities, and active hobbies. Eligible applicants include voluntary organisations, charities, social enterprises, sports clubs with charitable purposes, and uniformed groups such as Scouts. Schools cannot apply directly unless a parent-teacher association submits a bid for extra-curricular activities. The fund covers all seven Norfolk districts, from Norwich and Broadland to Great Yarmouth, King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, North Norfolk, Breckland, and South Norfolk, with priority given to young people facing inequalities, including those with disabilities, young carers, care-experienced children, and families in high-poverty communities.

Money can cover activity costs, travel, equipment, membership fees, essential kit, volunteer expenses, and training for staff or young participants. The foundation expects to confirm decisions in October. Last year, the fund supported 25 projects across the county, ranging from traditional sports to outdoor adventure schemes. It is the second year of a three-year partnership with the Norfolk Community Foundation, with money raised through the annual Norfolk Superhero Challenge, a quadrathlon at Burnham Overy Staithe that has brought in over £600,000 for local charities.

Groups can email [email protected] or call 01603 623958 for details.
