The Oxford Preservation Trust is starting free Easter egg trails at two of its local green spaces in Oxford, Oxfordshire, from 28 March to 13 April 2026. Families are invited to visit Larkins Lane Field in Old Headington or Boars Hill to take part in the activities.

Children can join a wooden egg hunt where they must find hidden letters to unscramble a mystery word. Those who complete the challenge can collect a reward from the trust office after finishing their walk.

At the site in Old Headington, families can see the progress of a valley fen restoration project which helps protect rare peat habitats. This field was originally purchased in 2022 to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and currently offers the chance to spot tadpoles in the water.

The activities at Boars Hill offer a choice between a short trail in Abraham Wood or a longer walk to Signal Elm Field. This area is home to an oak tree made famous by the poet Matthew Arnold and features woodland filled with bluebells and wild garlic.

These trails are part of a collection of family activities managed by the charity, which was founded in 1927. The organisation now looks after about 1,000 acres of land to help preserve the green spaces and historic character of the local area.
