Residents in Oxford, Oxfordshire, are facing a blustery weekend as the Met Office predicts wind gusts of up to 40mph and heavy rain starting Friday, February 20, 2026. This weather is expected to cause slower travel and potential disruption to outdoor plans across the city.

The heaviest showers are forecast for Friday afternoon, with a 95 per cent chance of rain between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Despite the wind and rain, temperatures will remain unusually mild for this time of year, reaching 12°C on Friday and climbing to 14°C on Saturday.

Strong gusts may cause fallen branches and could blow around loose garden items, so residents are encouraged to secure any outdoor belongings. Those using the Oxford Bus Company or Stagecoach services should prepare for delays, while cyclists should take extra care on exposed roads such as Botley Road and Headington Hill.

The Environment Agency has active flood warnings in place for England as wet and windy conditions continue through the weekend. The changeable weather, caused by Atlantic frontal systems, is likely to last until at least Monday, February 23, 2026.
