Hinksey Outdoor Pool in Oxford is set to welcome swimmers back for its 2026 season on Saturday, 16 May. The popular lido, which is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, will open just in time for the upcoming school half-term break and the May bank holiday.

The facility, operated by More Leisure Community Trust (MLCT) in partnership with Serco Leisure on behalf of Oxford City Council, was originally expected to open in April. However, the reopening was delayed due to damage caused by the winter’s heavy flooding. The site, which has been a staple of the community since 1936, will now operate through to 28 September.

During the off-season, more than £200,000 was invested into upgrading the pool’s plant room. These improvements are intended to provide more consistent water temperatures, reduce maintenance downtimes, and lower overall energy consumption. Local officials have noted that this year’s preparations have been better organised than in previous seasons, particularly regarding the availability of lifeguards.

The heated 35-metre pool offers a variety of features, including a beach area for young children, deeper sections for lane swimming, and facilities accessible to wheelchair users. Visitors should be aware that the centre operates on a card-payment-only basis.

Season passes for the 2026 season are priced at £210 for adults, £420 for families, and £107 for concessions. Further information on accessing the pool can be found through the official Oxford City Leisure website.
