The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice and snow across Oxford, Oxfordshire, beginning the evening of February 17, 2026, which is expected to cause travel delays and icy road conditions throughout the week.

The Environment Agency currently has more than 15 flood alerts in place for the county due to high water levels in the River Thames and its nearby streams. Persistent rain has left the ground saturated, and further downpours could lead to flooding on low-lying routes such as Abingdon Road and Botley Road.

Drivers should expect difficult conditions on major roads including the A34 and M40, while passengers using Great Western Railway services may also see some delays. To help keep traffic moving, maintenance teams from Oxfordshire County Council are prepared to begin gritting the main roads as the frost sets in.

While lower areas expect rain, snow is forecast for higher ground in the Chilterns and Cotswolds on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. This unsettled weather follows a difficult winter season that included significant travel disruption caused by Storm Goretti earlier in January.
