An earlier repair to a pothole on Waynflete Road in Barton, Oxford, has failed again and a new report was filed via the Oxfordshire County Council FixMyStreet portal by an anonymous resident on 6 February 2026.

The defect is located near the Bayswater Farm Road junction, close to the entrance of Barton Leisure Centre (Waynflete Road, OX3 8GA). Residents and the FixMyStreet report say a repair logged as “fixed” in late 2025 has already disintegrated, leaving a deep crater that affects local drivers and the frequent bus services that use the route through the estate.

Road maintenance is the responsibility of Oxfordshire County Council and its contractor Milestone Infrastructure. Milestone began the county’s new highways contract on 1 April 2025 under an initial eight-year agreement (with an option to extend), and the council agreed more than a350m for highway maintenance in its 2025/26 budget. The community is concerned that temporary “patch-and-fill” repairs are failing under the weight of heavy vehicles.

A local area council technician is investigating the report to decide what kind of repair is needed next. Oxfordshire County Council operates a risk-based approach to highway defects, prioritising repairs that pose the greatest danger to cyclists and motorists.
