Oxford is set for a week of warm and settled weather, with temperatures climbing well above the typical average for late April. According to the Met Office, residents can expect temperatures to range from 16°C to 22°C, with the mercury hitting its highest point this Friday, 1 May.

The week will remain mostly dry, though there will be some brief showers on Monday evening and Tuesday morning. More unsettled conditions with a higher chance of rain are expected to return from Friday evening onwards and continue into the weekend.

While the fine weather creates ideal conditions for outdoor events, including the traditional May Morning celebrations on 1 May at Magdalen College and the upcoming Bank Holiday on 4 May, those prone to allergies should take note. Pollen levels are forecast to be high throughout most of the week, with the exception of Tuesday, which is expected to be moderate.

According to Met Office scientists, the current rise in pollen is due to warm, dry, and sunny conditions across the UK. Birch pollen is currently the primary trigger for many hay fever sufferers, and there is a possibility of even higher pollen counts in June once the grass season begins.
