A Peterborough community organisation has received a £500 grant from Stagecoach to help fund local youth activities. The funding was awarded to Families First Peterborough CIC as part of a national initiative run by the bus operator through its Neighbourly platform.
Families First Peterborough CIC, based in Bretton, supports local families and school-aged children who have faced challenges such as social exclusion, financial hardship, or trauma. The organisation plans to use the grant to support its Panoramic Model, which offers a holistic approach to helping children and young people with Down’s Syndrome.
Cherry Lester, director and manager at Families First Peterborough CIC, explained that the funds will go directly toward music workshops held at their monthly youth club. The participants have named the music project Down Right Friday!.
According to an announcement published on 5 May 2026 by the Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce, the grant is one of many provided to community groups across the country. Darren Roe, the managing director of Stagecoach East, noted that the company is committed to supporting organisations that make a positive impact on local lives.
