An 18-year-old drug dealer has been jailed for 26 months after a gun was fired in Central Park, Peterborough. Hamdard Khan, of Scotswood Crescent, Leicester, was sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court on 13 March 2026, following a police investigation that uncovered illegal drugs and a collection of weapons.
Cambridgeshire Constabulary launched an investigation after a firearm was discharged in the popular park in March 2025. Khan was identified through CCTV footage and subsequently pleaded guilty to charges including possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, supplying heroin and cocaine, and an additional count of affray.
During a search of his home in Thistlemoor Road, New England, officers found cocaine and heroin with a street value of £1,310 and more than £400 in cash. They also seized a machete, an extendable baton, and 60 blank firing rounds that matched evidence found at the scene of the shooting.
Detective Constable Nik Loizou stated that the incident was worrying for local residents as it took place in a popular public area. He added that the evidence gave Khan little choice but to admit to his crimes. The sentencing is part of ongoing efforts by local police to disrupt county lines drug dealing and remove dangerous weapons from the community.
