Families in Peterborough can take part in free craft sessions this month as Queensgate Shopping Centre hosts a series of creative workshops for the school holidays. The activities will run from February 14 to February 22, 2026, at the Unity unit within the shopping centre. This initiative aims to give parents a budget‑friendly way to keep children entertained during the February half‑term break in Cambridgeshire.

The workshops are being run by Queensgate Shopping Centre in partnership with Up The Garden Bath, the community interest company that operates the Unity store. These walk‑in sessions will focus on creative projects like upcycling and eco‑friendly crafts, allowing children to learn about the environment while making something new. Organisers say the events are designed to be accessible to everyone, with most activities requiring no advance booking.

The Peterborough City Council school term dates confirm the sessions cover the entire holiday week and the surrounding weekends. The sessions are held in the Unity store, part of the award‑winning community project Up The Garden Bath, which manages the space. This area has become a popular spot in the city centre, showcasing work from more than 100 local makers and small businesses, organisers say.

These free events come as part of a wider plan to make the shopping centre a more welcoming place for local residents. Since several large department stores closed in recent years, the centre has focused more on hosting community events and leisure activities. Dave Poulton, a co‑founder of Up The Garden Bath, said the goal is to support families during the cost‑of‑living crisis by providing a fun and creative space for children to connect with others.
