On 23 March 2026, Peterborough City Council in Cambridgeshire named two local leaders to head new boards that will spend £40 million on regeneration. This project aims to give residents a direct say in how their local areas are developed over the next ten years.

Jonathan Jelley MBE JP and Ejaz Moghul will lead the work, which provides £2 million every year to each chosen area. Mr Jelley, a local magistrate and chair of the Peterborough Council for Voluntary Service, will oversee the board for Paston, Gunthorpe, and Welland.

Ejaz Moghul, a former Tesco Community Champion, will lead the board for Orton Malborne and Orton Goldhay. The money comes from a UK Government scheme that aims to put decision-making power into the hands of local people.

Local MPs Andrew Pakes and Sam Carling helped secure the funds to support neighbourhoods that need extra investment. Council staff are now working with the new chairs to find more residents and business owners to join the boards and help choose future projects.
