A Year 1 Graphics student from Peterborough College has seen her classroom work come to life after winning a design competition for the Bythams Community Shop. Shannon Brown was tasked with creating a new bag design as part of a recent work experience assignment, with her final submission being chosen by the shop as the winning entry.
To celebrate the achievement, Lindy Rudd, Vice Chair of the Bythams Community Shop, and shop representative Ingrid Goode visited the college on 11 May 2026. The pair presented the student with a printed version of her design as a thank you for her efforts.
The Bythams Community Shop is a community-owned and operated store located at 46 Station Road in Castle Bytham. It serves the villages of Castle Bytham and Little Bytham, along with surrounding parishes. The shop, which opened on 1 June 2020, was funded through a community share issue that raised approximately £270,000.
Peterborough College, where the competition took place, is part of the Inspire Education Group. The group was formed in October 2020 following a merger between Peterborough Regional College and Stamford College.
