Neighbourhood officers from Peterborough and the wider county helped raise a total of £47,200 for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) during a charity event on Thursday, 26 February 2026. This money will support nursing and care for children with life-threatening conditions in Cambridgeshire and the surrounding region.

The Jail or Bail fundraiser involved 16 business leaders from across Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, and Suffolk being arrested for humorous fake crimes, including spending too much time on the golf course. Officers from the Cambridgeshire Constabulary placed the volunteers in handcuffs and transported them to a mock station in police vans.

Each participant had to raise a minimum of £1,000 in bail money through their professional networks to secure their release. The detainees used their time behind bars to collect donations via JustGiving pages.

According to Sergeant Rob Taylor, of the South Cambridgeshire Neighbourhood Team, who coordinated the police involvement, the event exceeded previous totals. The final sum of £47,200 will fund vital nursing and family support services across the region.
