Households in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, will see their yearly energy bills drop by an average of £117 starting from 1 April 2026. The energy regulator Ofgem confirmed the 7 per cent decrease on 25 February 2026, which will bring the typical annual bill down to £1,641.

The Peterborough Environment City Trust has released a new guide to help residents understand how these changes affect their monthly costs. The charity explains that while prices are falling, they are still higher than usual and suggests that turning a thermostat down by just 1°C can save a home another £80 per year.

Families on lower incomes can also apply for help through the new Warm Homes Local Grant which is offered by Peterborough City Council. This fund provides free home improvements like insulation and new heating systems for houses with lower energy ratings to help keep costs down permanently.

Residents who need help managing their bills or checking if they qualify for grants can contact the LEAP service. This programme is managed locally to provide direct support and home visits for people who are concerned about their energy costs.
