Peterborough United Football Club has joined a league-wide campaign this February to help residents in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, learn how to save lives during a medical emergency. The club is taking part in the “Every Minute Matters” initiative — a British Heart Foundation and Sky Bet campaign supported by the English Football League (EFL) — to raise awareness about heart health and the importance of quick action.

To show how important every second is, kick-off times for matches between February 5 and February 9, 2026, have been moved back by exactly one minute. This short delay is meant to remind fans that just sixty seconds can make a massive difference to someone’s survival when their heart stops beating.

The Peterborough United Foundation is hosting training sessions at the Weston Homes Stadium to teach local people how to perform CPR. Residents can also use the campaign’s RevivR digital tool, which the BHF and partners say teaches life‑saving CPR skills on a mobile phone in about 15 minutes.

Health experts note that eight out of ten out‑of‑hospital cardiac arrests happen in the home, yet currently fewer than one in ten people in the UK survive such an emergency outside hospital. This campaign aims to change those numbers by training fans to help their own family members or neighbours if a crisis occurs.

This project is part of a two‑year partnership between the British Heart Foundation and Sky Bet, supported by the English Football League (EFL), which aims to raise £6 million for BHF research. By using the popularity of football, the groups hope to turn thousands of fans across the country into confident lifesavers.
