Registration is now open for the 2026 AEPG Great Eastern Run in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, where thousands of residents will take to the streets for the annual half marathon on Sunday 11 October 2026. This popular event allows runners of all abilities to race through the city on roads that are closed to normal traffic for the day.

There are 8,000 places available for the main Great Eastern Run, with registration now available through Total Race Timing. The route is known for being very flat and includes a section that passes through the grounds of Peterborough Cathedral. Entry for this race starts from £38 for club members, and participants must be at least 17 years old to take part.

A separate Anna’s Hope 5K Fun Run will start earlier at 9:00 am for those who prefer a shorter distance. This race costs £19 and is open to adults and children over the age of four, though those under eight must be accompanied by an adult. The fun run is a major part of the day and helps raise money for local causes.

The event is organised by Good Running Events, a group that has run the race since 2022. Expert pacers will also be on the course to help runners reach specific target times, ranging from one hour and 30 minutes to two hours and 45 minutes. These pacers help both new and experienced runners stay on track to meet their personal finish goals.

Last year, the event saw around 6,500 people cross the finish line and raised an estimated £250,000 for various charity partners. The race started back in 1982 and continues to be one of the most significant sporting events in the local area. Residents are encouraged to book their spots early to ensure they can participate in the October race.
