Residents in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, can attend a 1980s themed disco night inside the city’s historic cathedral on February 20, 2026. The event offers a unique night out for adults to dance directly beneath a massive, glowing sun sculpture that has been installed in the main part of the building.
The art installation, which is called Helios, was created by artist Luke Jerram and measures seven metres across. The internally lit sculpture uses detailed imagery from NASA to show the surface of the sun at a scale of 1:200,000,000.
Music for the evening will be provided by DJ Lee, who will play a selection of retro pop hits starting at 19:30. Tickets for the 18-and-over event cost £20, and guests are encouraged to wear fancy dress outfits such as neon clothing and leg warmers.
The night serves as a fundraiser to help Peterborough Cathedral pay for building maintenance and local community programmes. To encourage more people to visit the city centre, local businesses including the Park Inn and Kathmandu Lounge are offering special discounts to anyone who has a ticket for the event.
