A free drop-in session will offer young carers in Poole guidance and information on Monday 8 June as part of Carers Week. Representatives from Adult Social Care Services will be at The Dolphin Poole’s GATHER community space from 10am to 6pm to speak with anyone who looks after a family member or loved one. The event is open to all young people with caring responsibilities, including those stopping by after school.
Young carers can turn up at any time during the day without needing to book. Staff will provide practical support and details about services available across the Poole area. Cllr Steve Robinson, Dorset Council’s cabinet member for adult social care, said, “Carers are at the heart of our communities, but many people don’t see themselves as carers or realise help is available. This Carers Week is about reaching those hidden carers and making support easier to find.”
Carers Week runs from 8 to 14 June and this year’s theme is “Building Carer Friendly Communities.” The GATHER event is one of several activities across Dorset during the week. Help & Care Dorset Carer Service continues to provide ongoing support, while the Dolphin Shopping Centre hosts the session in its central community area.
