Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted break-in at a Poole Town cafe left its door and frame damaged. The force’s neighbourhood alert system detailed the incident, which happened between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Monday 29 June 2026.

Investigators say someone tried to force entry to the premises during that hour-long window but failed to get inside. The cafe’s name and exact address have not been released publicly. Officers have assigned reference number 55260098787 to the case and want to hear from anyone who saw suspicious activity in the town centre around that time.

The alert was posted on Thursday 3 July by Tony Thomas, a volunteer with the Poole Neighbourhood Engagement Support team, as part of a routine local crime update. The same bulletin also flagged a stolen pedal cycle taken from outside Costa Coffee at Lifeboat Quay, recorded under reference 55260099911. Residents are reminded not to use the Dorset Alert platform to report crimes; emergencies should go through 999, while non-urgent matters can be raised on 101.

Anyone with information can contact Dorset Police directly, or pass details anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
