The Kings Theatre Portsmouth in Southsea, Hampshire, will present a professionally staged production of the musical We Will Rock You from Saturday 17 October to Saturday 24 October 2026. The one‑week run is being produced in‑house by the theatre under its “Portsmouth Theatres Presents” banner to bring high‑quality entertainment to the local community at accessible prices.

By mounting the show locally, the venue says it aims to support Southsea businesses and give residents the chance to see a major production without travelling to London. The musical is built around more than two dozen of Queen’s hit songs and uses the book originally written by Ben Elton.

The production is being put together by the Kings’ own creative team and will use a professional cast and the theatre’s wardrobe department. The project follows other in‑house productions at the venue, including Grease and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Tickets start at £10 to help keep the performances affordable. Theatre management says producing shows in‑house helps the venue remain financially sustainable while drawing audiences into nearby bars and restaurants. Performance times include evening shows at 7:30pm and matinees at 2:30pm, with a 5:00pm performance on Sunday 18 October 2026.

The Kings says this production is significant because the company is building the show in Portsmouth from the ground up. Paul Woolf, who previously served as CEO and now heads the theatre’s in‑house production team and regeneration work, said the ability to manage a production of this scale demonstrates how much the team has grown. The show is being presented under licence via Theatrical Rights Worldwide.
