The New Theatre Royal Portsmouth in Hampshire will host a production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet on 10 March 2026 to support local students and drama fans. This performance is designed to give young people and theatre enthusiasts a chance to see a classic play in their own community while helping to bring more visitors into the city centre during the evening.

The New Theatre Royal Portsmouth is promoting the show as a high-intensity drama that includes fierce sword fights and searing emotion. It is recommended for people aged 11 and over, making it particularly suitable for students currently studying the play for their GCSE exams.

To make the theatre more accessible for local schools and colleges, tickets for students are priced at £10. This initiative aims to help local drama education by providing an affordable way for educational groups in the region to experience professional stagecraft.

This Portsmouth show is part of a wider regional tour that also includes performances at the Bournemouth Pavilion and the Marina Theatre. By hosting such events, the historic Victorian venue in Guildhall Walk continues to act as a hub for cultural activity and supports efforts to keep the city centre busy after dark.
