Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is appealing for witnesses following a fatal crash in Portsmouth that claimed the life of a motorcyclist on 2 May 2026.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:30am in Kettering Terrace, near the Mile End Road junction with the M275. A man in his 30s from Waterlooville was riding a Royal Enfield Continental motorbike when the single-vehicle collision took place. Despite the efforts of paramedics from the South Central Ambulance Service and other emergency responders, the rider was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
The crash resulted in significant disruption for local residents and commuters, with major road closures put in place at Princess Royal Way, Mile End Road, and up to the Rudmore Roundabout at junction 2. Drivers were urged to avoid the area while emergency services dealt with the aftermath of the collision.
Investigators are now asking anyone who may have seen the incident or who possesses relevant dash cam footage to come forward to assist with their enquiries. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police by calling 101 and quoting reference number 44260205823.
This investigation follows the launch of a new roads policing task force by the local constabulary in March 2026. This team was created to focus on collision hotspots and address dangerous driving behaviours that pose the greatest risk to road users.
