The Moving On Project Portsmouth is calling for more volunteers to help at its charity shop and storage premises in Portsmouth, Hampshire. The local group needs extra hands to help manage its daily operations as it continues to support residents facing financial hardship.
People who sign up can choose from several roles, including serving customers, sorting through donated items, and helping with office tasks. The charity offers training for all positions and provides flexible hours to fit around the volunteers- own commitments.
The organisation provides essential household items like furniture and domestic appliances to people who are moving into new homes. This often includes residents who have experienced homelessness or are survivors of domestic abuse.
Based at 27-29 Kingston Road in Buckland, the project is run entirely by volunteers and led by founder Sarah Knight. Because the group does not receive any government funding, it relies on money raised through its shop and donations from the public to provide its services for free.
