Rail lines between Fareham, Havant, and Portsmouth in Hampshire will close for six days from Saturday 28 March to Thursday 2 April 2026. This complete closure is necessary for Network Rail to carry out essential engineering work to strengthen the local railway infrastructure. This project aims to ensure that train operations in the area remain safe and reliable for the future.

During the closure, South Western Railway will provide replacement bus services to help people travel between Portsmouth Harbour, Havant, and Fareham. Passengers are being told to expect their journeys to take significantly longer than usual. The train operator is asking everyone to check their travel times before they start their journey.

The work is part of a wider effort to improve the railway lines across the region. By completing these repairs now, the rail companies hope to avoid more disruptive work later in the year. Residents who usually use these stations should plan for different travel arrangements throughout the end of March and the start of April.
