Passengers heading to Portsmouth, Hampshire, are facing major travel disruption following service changes on the line between Horsham and Barnham starting 12 March 2026. The issues are affecting several routes operated by Southern Rail that normally run to Portsmouth & Southsea and Portsmouth Harbour.

Trains that usually run from London Victoria to the city are now ending their journeys at Havant. People who need to get into Portsmouth must get off at Havant and change to a different train run by South Western Railway to finish their trip.

There are also changes for people travelling from Brighton, with those services now stopping at Chichester. These trains will not continue to their usual stops in Portsmouth until the problems on the rail line are fixed.

Local travellers are being encouraged to check live departure boards for the latest information before they leave home. The rail company has suggested that using alternative routes through Hove might help passengers reach their destinations while the disruption continues.
