Families and commuters in Rayleigh, Essex, are being told to prepare for a wet and windy mid-week as heavy rain and strong gusts are expected to move through the area. According to the Met Office, the weather will take a turn on Wednesday, 11 March 2026, starting with a very high chance of downpours.
Forecasters say there is a 90 per cent chance of heavy rain hitting the town at 6am on Wednesday morning. While the rain is expected to clear later in the day to leave brighter but blustery conditions, the wet start could cause slower travel for those heading out on the morning commute.
The weather is set to become even more unsettled on Thursday, 12 March 2026, as wind speeds increase significantly across the region. Maximum gusts are predicted to reach up to 41mph, and there may be a further spell of rain during the day.
Residents are being encouraged to take precautionary steps, such as securing loose garden furniture or items, before the stronger winds arrive on Thursday. This change follows a period of relatively calm and misty weather over the previous weekend.
