Residents in Rayleigh, Essex, will see no changes to their bin collections during bank holidays in 2026. Rochford District Council confirmed that crews will work as usual on Good Friday and Easter Monday to ensure all waste is picked up without delay.
On Good Friday, 3 April 2026, the collection in the town will include recyclables, garden waste, and food waste. For the bank holidays on 6 April 2026 and 4 May 2026, the service will cover non-recyclables, garden waste, and food waste.
Households must place their bins at their property boundary by 7am on their collection day to ensure they are emptied. The local service provides three separate bins for every home to manage weekly garden and food waste, fortnightly recycling, and fortnightly general rubbish.
This holiday schedule follows a national update to recycling rules across the country. According to GOV.UK, a new mandate requires all councils in England to provide separate food waste collections by 31 March 2026.
