Residents in Rayleigh, Essex, are expected to see a brief break from the winter cold on February 25, 2026, as daytime temperatures reach an unseasonably warm 16C. This peak is nearly double the typical February high of 8C for the area, providing a mild window for outdoor activities and home maintenance.

The Met Office predicts a sunny day with light winds of around 8mph, which is much calmer than the 36mph gusts expected later in the week. This forecast suggests that local households will see a short-term drop in heating needs during the day, according to climate data from Weather Spark.

The mild conditions will coincide with the historic outdoor market held on the High Street.  Rayleigh Town Council manages the weekly event, which has been a staple of the local community since the year 1181.

This warm spell is not expected to last long, as a more unsettled weather system will move in by Thursday. Forecasters suggest there is up to a 70 per cent chance of rain by Friday, with cooler temperatures and windier conditions returning to the town for the weekend.
