A free public lecture on climate futures will take place at the Concert Hall at Reading Town Hall on Monday 15 June from 19:00 to 20:30. Professor Hannah L. Cloke OBE, newly appointed Regius Professor in Meteorology and Climate Science at the University of Reading, will deliver a keynote address as part of the Reading Climate Festival 2026. The two-week programme runs from 6 to 20 June and features 48 events across the town.
This is Professor Cloke’s first major public lecture since receiving the Regius Professorship, one of the UK’s highest academic honours. Her talk will examine how the way people discuss climate science affects public understanding and political engagement. It will also look at how science can help communities respond to a changing climate with ambition, resilience and hope.
Advance booking is required as spaces are limited. Both in-person attendance and online livestream tickets are available at no cost. The festival is curated by Reading Climate Action Network, which coordinates local climate action to support the town’s commitment to become net zero and climate-resilient by 2030. The programme spans exhibitions, performances, film screenings and community gatherings across Reading.
Tickets can be booked through the Reading Arts and Venues box office by emailing [email protected] or calling 0118 960 6060.
