Families visiting Prospect Park in Reading can now book activities more easily following a recent update to the Reading Borough Council website. The council has added direct booking links for the Ranger Station, allowing residents to secure spots for mini golf, tennis, football, the climbing wall, and low ropes in one place.

The Ranger Station is an activity centre located within a renovated pavilion at the park. It was developed through a £500,000 investment from the council to provide more options for outdoor physical activity. Since opening in August 2022, the facility has expanded to include a variety of bookable sports and games, as well as an archery range.

The site features a 9-hole mini golf course with themes based on local landmarks, such as Reading Abbey, the Blade, and Reading Festival. The course is designed to be fully accessible, with specialist equipment and wheelchair access available. Other activities, such as tennis and football, are available for booking during the summer months, while the climbing wall offers sessions for individuals and groups.

According to Reading Borough Council, the new online system aims to simplify the process for parents and carers. When booking online, participants receive a confirmation email which they must show to the on-site team upon arrival. Customers are asked to arrive five minutes before their session begins to complete safety briefings and equipment fittings.

The development of the Ranger Station is overseen by the council’s Leisure and Culture department. Cllr Adele Barnett-Ward, the Lead Councillor for Leisure and Culture, has championed the project as part of a wider strategy to encourage physical activity and support health across the borough.
