Passengers in Reading, Berkshire, will face significant travel changes on Sunday, 22 March 2026, as bus services are moved or stopped for the town’s annual race. Nearly every route in the town will be affected throughout the morning and early afternoon to ensure the safety of runners and spectators.

The Green Park Reading Half Marathon is set to begin at 10:15 AM, but road closures will start much earlier. According to the Reading Borough Council, some streets will be closed to traffic from 6:00 AM. Detailed road closure information has been released to help residents plan their journeys around the event.

Reading Buses has confirmed that the changes will impact routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 21, 23, 24, 25, 26, 29, and 33. This means people travelling to work or visiting the town centre will need to plan for different routes or longer journeys while the race is underway.

The race course will take runners through the town centre and across the university grounds. Normal bus services are expected to return later in the afternoon once the roads have been safely reopened to the public.
