Residents in Reading, Berkshire, can learn about local history and nature during the free Reading Town Centre Historical Tree Walk hosted by Reading Museum on Saturday 21 March 2026.
The tour will run from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and is led by the Reading Tree Wardens. People who want to take part can meet at the museum at 1:45pm to walk to the start point at Reading Minster in St Mary’s Butts together.
The route highlights notable tree species that live in the town alongside famous historical landmarks. These include the ancient Abbey ruins and sites linked to the life of the writer Oscar Wilde.
This activity is part of the Reading Museum Goes Green initiative, which is a drop-in event for the public. Other local groups such as Econet, Jenny’s Bees, and Keep Reading Tidy will also be at the museum to share information about the environment.
While the tour is free to join, the organisers welcome donations to help with future tree planting projects in the area. The event aims to help residents feel a deeper connection to the trees and history found in their local streets.
