A free drop-in job fair is taking place today at the Whitley Wood Community Centre on Lexington Grove in Reading, Berkshire, to help residents find work. The event runs from 2:00 PM until 4:30 PM on 26 February 2026 and allows people to meet local employers without needing to book in advance.

Organised by EventsInReading, the fair aims to connect job seekers directly with businesses in an informal setting. The event is held at the centre which was opened in April 2024 as a temporary facility to serve residents after other local spaces closed.

The job fair is part of a plan to support the Whitley area, which according to a Reading Borough Council report has more people claiming benefits than the town average. By holding the event locally, organisers hope to help residents who might find it difficult or expensive to travel for job searches.

The hub, owned by Reading Borough Council, also hosts a project called Get Online Whitley to help people improve their computer skills. This afternoon’s session is open to all residents and does not require any prior registration to attend.
