Residents in Reading planning to visit the Rivermead Leisure Centre this coming Monday, 4 May 2026, should be aware that the facility will operate on adjusted opening hours for the Early May Bank Holiday.

The centre, located on Richfield Avenue along the banks of the River Thames, will be open from 7am until 8pm on the bank holiday. This is a change from the facility’s standard weekday hours, which typically run from 6am until 10pm. The holiday hours are intended to help residents plan their use of the swimming pool, gym, and fitness class studios accordingly.

The centre is owned by Reading Borough Council and is operated by Greenwich Leisure Ltd under the Better brand. It represents a significant part of a £40m investment project to upgrade sports and leisure facilities across the town.

Those looking to use the facilities, which include a 120-station gym, an 8-lane 25m swimming pool, and three fitness class studios, are encouraged to note these holiday hours before heading out. The centre will return to its regular operating schedule following the holiday.
