Residents in Reading and across the Thames Valley will see new opening hours for the Victims First support service starting from Monday 11 May 2026. The service, which provides free emotional and practical support to people affected by crime, will operate from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Thursday, and 9am to 4.30pm on Fridays.
Managed by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner under the leadership of Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Barber, the organisation offers assistance to those impacted by a range of offences, including burglary, fraud, stalking, domestic abuse, sexual violence, and violent crime. Support is available to victims and witnesses regardless of whether they have reported the incident to the police.
In addition to general support, the service provides a dedicated programme for children and young people aged 5 to 18. Residents can reach the team by calling 0300 1234 148 during the updated opening hours or by visiting the organisation’s website. Information regarding these changes was shared through Thames Valley Alert.
