Families in Croxley Green can now enjoy a fully upgraded play area at Barton Way, which reopened to the public on 26 March 2026. The facility, managed by Three Rivers District Council, underwent a comprehensive refurbishment to replace outdated equipment that was no longer suitable for the community.
The project, which saw the site closed from 5 January 2026, was completed in time for the Easter school holidays. The new space features more than 20 types of play equipment, including slides, a zip wire, climbing units, and swings. Additional amenities such as a table tennis table, a chess table, and a fitness station have also been installed to cater to different age groups.
Beyond the play equipment, the site now includes new landscaping designed to create habitats for local wildlife, accompanied by new interpretation boards. The refurbishment followed a public consultation process where local residents were able to share their views on the designs.
The improvement works were supported by a financial contribution from Croxley Green Parish Council. Councillor Chris Lloyd, the district council’s lead member for leisure, noted that the project was a priority because of how well-used the area is by local families. The work forms part of a wider district-wide initiative, supported by a £1 million investment over two years, to improve parks and open spaces across the region.
