Bury Lake Young Mariners in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, has officially switched to a cash-free system for all its services as of 13 March 2026. This change means anyone visiting the sailing base at the Aquadrome must now pay using a bank card or a contactless device instead of cash.
The sailing charity made the move to a cash-free operation to make its daily activities simpler and more secure. The organisation says that removing cash handling will help the sailing club run more efficiently for its members and the local public.
The club is a youth sailing charity that is run by more than 300 volunteers who teach sailing and powerboating. By using digital payments, the charity aims to update its administration and make it easier for the people who manage the site.
Visitors are reminded to bring a physical card or a mobile payment device for all transactions at the lake. This update is part of the charity’s work to modernise its finances after more than 40 years of serving the local community.
