Three Rivers District Council is holding two public drop-in sessions at the Rickmansworth Aquadrome in Hertfordshire this February to let residents review and comment on major restoration plans for the Local Nature Reserve. These events are part of the “Water, Wildlife, Wellbeing at Rickmansworth Aquadrome” project, which aims to address the site’s infrastructure needs while protecting local habitats and species.
The sessions will take place on Wednesday 4 February 2026 and Wednesday 11 February 2026, between 12:00 and 14:00 outside the Café in the Park. Marcus Day, Three Rivers District Council’s Community Engagement Officer for the Aquadrome project, and other council officers will be on site to present maps and designs showing proposed improvements to walking paths, better flood management, and new or improved habitats for priority species such as the water vole.
The work follows the Rickmansworth Aquadrome Management Plan 2022–2027 and is supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, which awarded a development grant of £736,515. The council is working toward a potential delivery grant of £4,146,114 (around £4.15 million) to complete the full-scale delivery of the project.
Marcus Day will lead the engagement sessions to ensure technical restoration plans reflect the needs of park users. Councillor Chris Lloyd, Lead Member for Leisure at Three Rivers District Council, said the project aims to increase the resilience of the site and to make sure the Aquadrome remains a place where both nature and residents can thrive for years to come.
People who are unable to attend the sessions in person can still view the plans and share their feedback via the council’s online “Have Your Say” portal. The council will use this feedback to finalise designs ahead of the next stage of the project.
