Families in Chorleywood will have the opportunity to explore local nature during the upcoming May half-term, as Groundwork East hosts a free outdoor play session. The event takes place on Tuesday 26 May 2026, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Carpenters Wood on Whitelands Avenue.

The session is designed for children aged 2 to 9 and aims to help families learn more about their local greenspace. Participants can expect a variety of nature-based activities, including scavenger hunts and natural art. The event is funded by Three Rivers District Council as part of a series of free activities taking place across the district.

Carpenters Wood, which serves as the setting for the day, is an ancient woodland spanning 22.8 hectares. With a history stretching back over 400 years, the site is located within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Registration for the event is essential, and families are encouraged to book early via Eventbrite. As of early May 2026, the session was nearly full. Only one ticket is required per family or group, and all children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the activity.

For further enquiries, residents can contact Emily Evans, the Senior Project Officer for Hertfordshire at Groundwork East, by emailing [email protected] or calling 07809203330.
