Rickmansworth Cricket Club is celebrating a strong start to the 2026 season after several teams achieved notable results over the opening days of the campaign.

The club’s 3rd XI secured a tense one-wicket victory against Luton Town & Indians CC on 9 May, finishing on 123/9 to overcome their opponents’ total of 122. Meanwhile, the Under 9s team dominated their match against West Herts CC in the Hertfordshire Junior Cricket League on 11 May, winning by 98 runs with a score of 477/4 to 379/6.

Paul Blackwell, who serves as the club’s Youth Coordinator, Membership and Fixture Secretary, Welfare Officer and Head Coach, highlighted the successful weekend on the club’s website. The club, which was founded in 1787 and is based at Park Road in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, currently manages six adult teams and is preparing to field a women’s team in league cricket for the first time this year.

This on-field success follows recent efforts to improve the club’s home facilities. Three Rivers District Council recently awarded the club £167,200 to fund upgrades, including drainage improvements, new changing facilities, better disabled access, and new cricket nets.

Residents can look forward to more action in the coming weeks as the club continues its campaign across the Saracens Hertfordshire Premier Cricket League. The 1st XI currently competes in Division 3A, while the 2nd XI plays in Division 5B. Upcoming fixtures include matches against Bushey CC and Old Eastcotians on 16 May 2026.
