The Met Office is warning people in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, to prepare for heavy rain and strong winds during the first two weeks of March 2026. This unsettled weather is expected to hit between March 2, 2026, and March 16, 2026, following a wet end to February.

Weather experts expect Atlantic weather systems to bring showers and wind to the area starting around February 20, 2026. While the forecast for early March is not yet certain, the repeated rain could cause water to collect on roads and low-lying land.

Rickmansworth is naturally prone to flooding because it is located where the River Colne and River Chess meet. The Environment Agency identifies areas near the A404, Scotsbridge, and Batchworth as particularly vulnerable when river levels are high.

Heavy rain has previously led to the closure of the A404 towards Chorleywood and caused problems for the Metropolitan Line and Chiltern Railways. People living in the town are encouraged to secure garden furniture and check flood maps before the rainy weather begins.
