The Waitrose in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, announced a donation of £420 to childhood cancer charity Alice’s Arc on 6 February 2026. The funds will help Alice’s Arc support local families and fund research into rhabdomyosarcoma, a soft‑tissue cancer that affects children.

Shoppers at the Homestead Road supermarket raised the money through the store’s Community Matters token scheme. Customers receive a green token at checkout to place in one of three boxes for local causes; the store’s monthly £1,000 Community Matters fund is then split proportionally based on the tokens collected.

The £420 donation represents nearly half of the Waitrose store’s monthly £1,000 Community Matters pot, reflecting strong local support for families affected by childhood cancer in the Rickmansworth area.

Alice’s Arc was started by a mother after her daughter was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma and now works with a national network of families (known as “Arcs”) to fund research and provide support. Sara Wakeling, CEO and co‑founder of Alice’s Arc, said: “The children and families impacted by rhabdomyosarcoma are at the heart of our mission. Every donation helps us pool funds toward the most meaningful research and ensures no family has to face this journey alone.”

Note for editors: Alice’s Arc’s website also records a Waitrose Rickmansworth fundraiser that raised £420 in February 2019; this story refers to the 2026 announcement and the store’s Community Matters activity in February 2026.
