Three Rivers District Council in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, has officially adopted a new three-year plan to guide how the area is run. The council agreed on the new strategy on 18 March 2026, marking a shift in focus for local services and community projects.

The new strategy for the Three Rivers District Council is built around four main goals for the community. These priorities include creating healthy and safe neighbourhoods, building a green and sustainable future, making the district more prosperous, and ensuring the council itself is well-run.

This plan will guide the council’s work until April 2028, when local government in Hertfordshire is expected to change. At that time, the current district and county councils are set to be replaced by one single authority that will manage all local services across the region.

Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst OBE, the Leader of the Council, said the new plan is driven by a desire to serve local people. He described the strategy as a legacy that will help shape how the area is managed even after the council structure changes in two years.
