Recorded crime in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, increased during January 2026, with local police reporting a rise in violence and nuisance behaviour. Total recorded incidents in the town grew to 219 during the month, which is a 15 per cent increase compared to the 190 cases reported in December 2025.

According to Hertfordshire Constabulary, the most common issues were violence and sexual offences, which accounted for 83 reports, and anti-social behaviour, which reached 40 incidents. These figures show a short-term increase in crimes that residents might encounter in public places or during the night.

To help make the town safer, the Rickmansworth Neighbourhood Policing Team has made it a priority to reduce nuisance behaviour around the High Street and the local Waitrose. This focus began on 1 January 2026 and follows a national campaign called the Winter of Action, which aimed to protect high streets across the country through December and January.

Ongoing tensions in the town centre were recently highlighted by the arrest of a 48-year-old man on 20 February 2026. The man was arrested on the High Street for making racially aggravated threats outside a coffee shop. Residents are being advised to stay alert and report any non-emergency concerns to the police by calling 101.
