A new emergency support scheme has been launched to help residents in Leamington and the wider Warwick district who are struggling to heat their homes. The Warwick Energy Fund, established by Warwick District Council in partnership with the charity Act on Energy, aims to assist those currently without heating due to broken boilers or other urgent issues.

The initiative provides immediate relief by supplying up to three electric heaters to eligible households. Support is available to private owner-occupiers and private tenants living within the district who are facing heating emergencies. Beyond providing temporary warmth, the programme connects residents with experts who can offer guidance on managing energy debt and help them apply for long-term grants to improve home energy efficiency, such as the Warm Homes Local Grant scheme.

Councillor Jim Sinnott, Portfolio Holder for Safer, Healthier and Active Communities, highlighted the importance of the project. He noted that living in cold homes can have a serious negative impact on both physical and mental health, and that the council is committed to ensuring residents have the support they need to stay warm.

This effort addresses a significant local challenge. According to the council’s fuel poverty strategy, more than 10 per cent of households in the district live in fuel poverty, with some areas of Leamington experiencing the highest concentrations of the issue in Warwickshire. Nationally, the problem remains widespread, with National Energy Action (NEA) frequently reporting figures in the millions of households across the UK as of late 2025.

Residents who are currently without heating are encouraged to contact Act on Energy by calling 0800 988 2881 or by emailing [email protected] to discuss their situation.
