Children in the Royal Tunbridge Wells area can attend specialized “Wildlife & Colour” photography workshops at Scotney Castle in Lamberhurst on May 28, 2026. These sessions aim to help young people develop technical skills while exploring the natural environment of the 780-acre estate.

The Sharp Shots Photo Club is working with the National Trust to host the outdoor sessions, which are grouped by age. A morning workshop for children aged 7 to 11 will run from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM, while a second session for teenagers aged 12 to 16 will take place from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM.

Participants will have the opportunity to photograph the castle’s renowned collections of rhododendrons and azaleas, which are expected to be in full bloom during the event. The grounds also feature rare green-winged orchids and a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) where local wildlife such as deer and dormice can be found.

Expert instructors will teach pupils how to use camera settings such as aperture and framing to capture high-quality images of nature. Camera rentals are available for those who do not have their own equipment, and the organisers recommend booking in advance because only a limited number of spots are available.
