A cocaine dealer has been jailed after Kent Police caught him attempting to hide evidence by flushing a mobile phone down a toilet in Tunbridge Wells.

Officers discovered 28-year-old Sabinson Selimaj at a property on Scotts Way on 2 October 2025. After forcing entry into a locked room, police found him in an ensuite bathroom as he tried to dispose of a broken mobile phone. Selimaj was one of four men charged with drug offences following the raid.

A search of the property uncovered 171g of high-purity cocaine in a backpack, alongside a counterfeit Romanian driving licence and £19,745 in cash. Selimaj, an asylum seeker whose application had been rejected, later claimed he had been coerced into storing and wrapping the drugs in exchange for a place to stay.

At Maidstone Crown Court on 30 March 2026, Selimaj was sentenced to two years and four months in prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine and possession of criminal property.

Detective Constable Bartolo of Kent Police stated that the arrest was the result of persistent local enquiries. The police maintain that they will continue to focus on disrupting drug supply networks and the harm they cause within local communities.
