Children can travel from the Smelly Stone Age to the Vast Victorians during free Discovery Days at The Amelia Scott this summer. The drop-in craft sessions run every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 29 July to 22 August, aimed at four to eleven-year-olds.

Sessions take place in the Activity Space between 10am and 3pm, with no booking required. Moley the mole, described as a curious and adventurous mascot, will guide children through crafts that organisers say are fit for a King or an Emperor. Each week has its own historical theme, starting with the Smelly Stone Age from 29 July to 1 August, followed by the Rude Romans from 5 to 8 August, the Messy Middle Ages from 12 to 15 August, and finishing with the Vast Victorians from 19 to 22 August.

The Amelia Scott previously ran Discovery Days during May half term on the 27th, 29th and 30th of that month. The programme is part of a wider summer offer that includes the annual Summer Reading Challenge, which runs until 12 September. The venue’s children’s library also holds regular Rhyme Time sessions on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, alongside Story Time and a permanent reading tree.
